[PCR-1000] Win XP and Icom Software

In speaking to a software developer, 'a hefty charge' for details as to 
the command set for the PCR-1000, or for any Icom radio is an 
understatement, so to speak.  They are charging third party developers a 
$500 fee for command sets for any Icom radio, and they are distributing 
such information over the internet, no less.  So there it goes to show 
you how much Icom cares about the 1000.  A care free manner in 
distributing much wanted information, making it difficult for the paying 
third party developer to get the information, doesn't say much for the 
promotion of the product line.  I think they will be pulling this unit 
from the market pretty soon.  I bought my radio for just under $350, and 
that was a little over a month ago.  It seems like the UK branch cares 
more about the product line than any other, as they care enough to offer 
another software solution with the radio at this point.
