good idea and you have some good suggestions

I will hold the software recommendations as ICOM clearly isnt as innovative 
as Pete M and TalkPCR will always be ahead, and unlike ICOM he actually uses 
the ideas folks send to him

here's mine for the receiver if anyone is consolidating

a 10Mhz wideband IF output (like AR-5000), there is a mod on the web to bring 
it out of the PCR but for the price of a connector and short wire they could 
add it and charge $10 more

a 10 Mhz frequency reference input (like AR-5000) for precision frequency 
stuff

more than one antenna input so an external switch would not be required and 
perhaps with ability to set auto switching based on freq.

more features for the DSP, it works great but sure they could add some even 
better features maybe a draw your own filter like the SR5 program

frequency extension to 2.6 GHz or higher (like AOR and Winradio units)

narrower filters for CW and HF, something like 200, 500, 1000

dual VFO's

it would be neat if they offered a higher end performer to include above 
features and if they kept it below $800 or so, I am sure many would buy it
