If it's a PC not a laptop you can buy 
bus cards (pci or isa) that plug into
one of your computer slot's. You can
buy them with 2 to 6 usb slot's.

I bought one that allows you to plug
in USB or the new USB2 devices. The USB2
is super fast.  It allowed me to buy and
attach a USB2 hard drive and a USB2 CD writer
to my computer. The USB2 CD writer let's me copy
and burn cd's in 9 minutes versus an hour plus
on my built in burner.  USB2 is the way to go.

What I've always needed is just the opposite --  the ability to run a
USB
device on a serial port.  No such device about other than another USB
capable system that can be networked to my 1996 'relic' PC.

    Not being a PC giant I'm open to suggestions.  Anyone have any ideas
??

I've hung onto my old circa 1997 200mHz/Win'95 system as it runs all of
the
older QBASIC shareware.  Of course it does not support USB.....

The radio manufacturers seem (if you look at their specs) to not realize
that world did go usb and they no longer ship any DOS, Win 3.1, or
Win'95
based systems.  Read ICOM's ad and you realize that have not even become
aware of Win'98.  I really think that ICOM believes 'XP' is the name of
the
next Star Wars movie.
