Some of you met Gerard at the breakfast meetings when here working in PB floods.
Gerard and I took our Novice Class together in 1985 at the Baton Rouge High.

Subject: Island Hopping for 2023

Holiday Greetings,

I will be traveling for FEMA to the Pacific Region projects in January. The visit will include Hawaii, Guam and the Northern Marianas. Yes, I have an IC 705, 100w amp and LDG 200 tuner in a pelican case ready to travel. The plan is to set up a portable station on the weekends. I should be on the air for several months.

I have contacted the Saipan Digital Group and the Northern Marianas DXers and will have local assistance to set up in Tinian and Saipan. The Tinian location will be from North Field. This is the take off point for the Enola Gay and Little Boy and the next day, Boxcar and Fat Man. The Saipan location will be Banzai Cliff. Lots of History.

AT&T has Cel and WIFI coverage on both islands. I will be logging on LOTW, Clublog, QRZ and eQSL. This should satisfy all.

W5XU, David Assaf and the Delta DX will be keeping up with my adventures. I will send updates and photos to the LA Section, also. Might be a future QST article.

Guam and the Maraianas are on the other side of the International date line. Best time explanation. My morning, the next day, is your evening. This should be excellent for 10 and 15 meters.

I hope to hear many W5 calls.

Gerard, W5TZX
