[PBARC] Moving of the 442.175 DMR repeater

All -

There are a few issues involved with why we are lolling at moving the repeater(s). I mentioned the environmental issues and the issue of just physically being able to work on the equipment. Along the same lines our repeater custodian has voiced his concerns about just being physically able to go to the sight and do the work.

The relocation of the 70 repeater to the Hardin site is a lot more “friendly” when it comes to performing maintenance.

W0MS has been helping with repeater work as of late. Thanks Mike.

Fortunately we have no expenses related to the mifi thanks to N5MNX and to his generosity.

If we keep the 440 repeater at its current location we will definitely need someone to step up and work on the issues at the 440 site. If you are interested please let us know.

Personally, if the issues we have at Simmons can be resolved I’m fine with leaving it there. We took a poll not long ago and the overwhelming opinion was to keep the DMR setup intact. I will defer to Mike on addressing the pi-star issues. He seems confident that they can and will be resolved.

My tentative vote is to leave the 440 machine where it is and as it is contingent on finding someone willing to work that site and the DMR/pi-star issues getting resolved.

Many companies won’t allow us to use their company internet (for obvious reasons) so that leaves us with using a mifi device. Mifi devices don’t work well, if at all, in a metal building.
