All -

The Railroadiana is this Saturday, April 2. It has been requested that all ham operators sign in before going to the caboose to help with setup and operating.

It has also been requested that no more that two of our vehicles be parked in the lot closest to the main entrance.

I don’t think it will take more than an hour or so to get setup and ready to operate but we should probably plan on a visit by Murphy.

It has been suggested that we meet at a local restaurant for breakfast before heading over to the museum. Shannon’s on Dollarway? Let me know your thoughts on this. Say 0730? 0800?

There are also plans to hold a VE test session during this special event. Right now we will only be able to test up through General but that may change as we get closer to Saturday.

We will plan to operate from 0930-ish to 1400-ish depending on band conditions. Will will start operating around 14.250 MHz +/-

Things that I know that need to be taken care of:
Put up the antenna
Should be a minor effort since the pulleys are in place.
Setup the operating station
I believe the following items are taken care of but I’m providing it as a check list. This list is probably not complete but is a starting point:
Power supply
Radio
Coax (approximately 100’)
There is RG-8x coax already there but it looks pretty iffy
If we use this coax, it will need at least 1 PL-259 installed on one end
We have some RG-213 or RG-8 already there (50 feet probably so we will probably need another 50 feet)
Barrel connector(s)
Clock
Paper and pencil for manual logging
Computer for computer logging (preferred)
Looking forward to see you at this special event. If you are interested come by.
