> The 2013 Memphis FreeFest is Saturday April 13, from 9 am to 3 pm. At the Bartlett Station Municipal Center at 5868 Stage Road. [same place as before] Bartlett is the suburb on the northeast side of Memphis Tennessee. We plan to start drawing for prizes at 2:30 pm and close down hard at 3 pm for load out.
>
> There will be a load in on Friday afternoon from 4-6 pm. The center charges us a flat fee of $250 for the load in time. We have tried to divide it up so there was no profit involved, but that was too much trouble so we now have a flat fee. Deposit is $10 per table up to $50 max. No exceptions. “No pay - no early load in”. You can load in Saturday morning starting at 7 am for free. We will have some folks to help you load in on both days, but it is extremely busy on Saturday morning.
>
> Since FreeFest started we have been 100% full. In 2012 Attendance was around 400 back up from the previous year. We had 106 spots inside and about 20+ outside. We had to turn down requests for 15+ spots inside. Some of these were able to go outside but some of the commercial folks could not.
>
> Mailing costs are prohibitive and it is difficult to get the word out . To try to offset this we have developed a list of over 100 clubs and will be contacting them via email. We also have plans to pass the word on local and regional nets. I have attached a flyer that you can print out and circulate it in your travels and at hamfests that you go to. I will be happy to send color copies if you let me know how many you need and the address.

> Prizes are also an issue. We donate 100% of the ticket proceeds to a local charity. Last year we raised over $3500 and donated it to LeBonheur Children’s hospital. LeBonheur is again our charity recipient in 2013. LeBonheur is the “other” Children’s hospital in Memphis. It is a tremendously large regional hospital that treats all other Children’s issues. They are about 5 times the size of St. Jude and had several thousand emergency room visits last year. LeBonheur handles all types of childhood accidents and illnesses. LeBonheur also does a lot of the surgeries for St. Jude.

> We need prizes for the raffle. In 2012 we had I Pads and they were a hot item. We are currently looking at and shopping around for prizes that have broad appeal. It is our plan to have both ham and non ham for the main drawing prizes. Of course, the hourly prizes require that you be present and they are predominantly ham. We are again looking at the new I Pads and Android tablets. Since this event is a “dead loss” for the club any help in getting prizes or donations is greatly appreciated. If you donate a prize of $100 We would like to put it on the prize ticket so you get recognition. If you are going to donate prize in this range please let us know. Last year Mid-South Amateur Radio Supply donated an impressive prize but the tickets were already at the printer. I felt bad they didn’t get the recognition they deserved for such a wonderful donation. We appreciate it, but LeBonheur appreciates it even more. Please start passing the word on your web sites, nets, and travels.
