[PBARC] PBARC Club meeting - October 11, 2011 @ 1900 - OEM

The next meeting of the PBARC will be Tuesday October 11, 2011 at 7PM in 
the bunking room at the OEM.

Joe Giddens, N5IOZ, will be giving a presentation on earthquakes.  Joe's 
description of the presentation is provided below:

The presentation is based on some New Madrid Fault Zone conferences and 
similar from recent years - particularly one held in Rolla Missouri 
where first responders were invited for the first time in addition to 
academics and scientific types.  These two groups really shocked each 
other and blew away a number of assumptions - made it a really 
interesting conference (3 day.  The visuals for the presentation were 
derived from presentations at that NMFZ conference, the Arkansas Geology 
Survey (Scott Ausbrooks and associates) and similar.

Topics start with this region's Earthquake history, the causes, the 
emergency response briefly, and then the LOGISTICS and geographical 
problems.  The logistics items cause an increased emphasis on digital 
communications - now being seen here in Arkansas.  A brief segment of 
the "Disaster Medicine 101" will end this presentation.

I've asked Joe to keep the PowerPoint presentation to about 45 minutes 
to an hour which means we should be wrapping up around 8:00.
