Notes from the PBARC meeting held on February 9, 2010 at 1900 at China
Garden Buffet:
Those attending:
Glenn Wolf, N5RN
Bill Aycock, KC5MN
Larry Carroll, N5JWJ
Larry Livingston, KC5UKR
Keith Cook, KK5ZD
Jeff Hubanks - KF5AGY
Rusty Reid - Guest
Meeting was called to order shortly after 1900 by N5RN
After taking care of the introductions and other items, KC5MN gave an
overview of our current bank account status.
A review of the status of the local repeaters was given by N5RN:
147.195 - no known issues except that the time may be off
147.240 - seems to be off the air for an unknown reason. KC5MN to
investigate tomorrow. Dropping of the auto patch was discussed and
finally approved with the understanding that a club activity would be to
replace this control function with a control radio to allow remote
shutdown of the repeater. There was also lengthy discussion about
replacing the current equipment with commercial equipment similar to the
equipment at other sites. This was approved. N5RN to share with the
membership via email what will be purchased. Initially we are looking at
a Maggiore repeater with a arcom RC210 controller. N5RN proposed
getting getting the call K5ECJ assigned to PBARC as we did for KJ5PE as
an "in memorium". N5RN to talk to Martha Ayres about this issue.
KK5ZD brought up for general discussion the need for all the repeaters
PBARC has. His intent wasn't to propose that do away with any but just
to get the membership thinking about what we have.
146.700 - No known issues
442.175 - Adding a tone board was discussed again and it was decided
that we would pursue adding tones to this repeater.
Moving on to Railroadiana - N5RN is to put an article in QST announcing
this special event after N5RN once again confirms the date with N5VGJ.
There being no other business, the meeting adjourned at approximately 1945.
