Tuesday will bring the next chance for severe weather in Arkansas.
Storms developing well to the west of Arkansas could make it into
northwest Arkansas around dawn Tuesday. Otherwise, the severe weather
threat will be during the afternoon and evening as a cold front makes
its way across the state. I do expect that we will see at least a few
severe thunderstorm warnings issued. Damaging winds will likely be a
greater threat than large hail. A couple of tornadoes cannot be ruled
out. Rainfall amounts will likely range from 1/2 to 1 1/2 inches, with
local amounts in the 2 to 2 1/2 inch range.
The cold front will stall just to the south of Arkansas. On Wednesday
night, we could see a few severe thunderstorms in the southern part of
the state as the front begins moving back to the north. Large hail
would be the severe weather threat.
The weather maps are still indicating a greater chance of severe weather
on Friday. If things turn out as the maps are currently indicating, we
would see quite a few severe thunderstorm warnings and at least a few
tornado warnings.
If there are any substantial changes, I will issue an update this
afternoon around 3:45 PM. Otherwise, the next message will be issued
Tuesday morning around 9:30 AM.
