Meeting called by: E Glenn Wolf Jr
Type of meeting: Regular Monthly meeting
Note taker: E Glenn Wolf Jr
Attendees:
Glenn Wolf, N5RN, John Gaines, N5VGJ, Larry Carroll, N5JWJ, Bobby
Livingston, N5YLE, Larry Livingston, KC5UKR, Jay Livingston, KE5RCY
*Minutes*
*Introductions: *
Not needed
*Minutes from Previous Meeting*:
N5JWJ and N5VGJ shared that due to the lack of attendance at the last
meeting nothing of significance was decided.
*Treasurer’s Report*:
KC5MN was not in attendance so the Treasurer’s report will be given at a
future meeting.
*Repeater updates*:
N5RN reported that all repeaters are functioning. 147.240 does not have
the autopatch available. The controller on this repeater doesn’t support
an autopatch. After some discussion, N5RN is to discuss the issue with
K5ECJ. The results of this discussion will drive our next steps on what
we will do. Those present were okay with getting a controller with an
autopatch, if necessary.
The 442.175 repeater is “kerchunking” a lot as of late. There was
discussion of putting a tone on the repeater. Another option was
discussed, that of tightening up the squelch. Both sides of this were
discussed and the decision was made to try the squelch adjustment and
then consider putting a tone on the repeater. Some concern was voiced
about putting a tone on the repeater because some radios may not have a
tone board. This will only be a problem with older radios since most
current radios have this capability already built in.
It was also agreed that we begin locating control radios so that the
repeaters can be shut down remotely.
*Future Activities*:
*Railroadiana* – Usually held the first weekend in April. N5VGJ to
verify date and our access. This will be discussed at a future meeting
as we need at least 4 people to make this happen. We have a permanent
antenna installed at the railroad museum so the setup wouldn’t take
long. We need the commitment to operate the station.
*Field Day* – This isn’t likely to be an event for this year. Everyone
is encouraged to seek out other clubs and get involved with them if you
want to work Field Day.
*Other*:
Dues are due.
N5YLE made a contribution to the controller fund depending on the
results of my conversation with K5ECJ and the autopatch.
The meeting was adjourned at approximately 7:40 PM
Respectively submitted,
E. Glenn Wolf, Jr
N5RN
