All,
The next in this series of severe storms arrives in the service area
from the NW early tomorrow morning. WSI has set every network in the
Entergy System to Yellow for Thursday (this is the first time I can
remember every network activated for the same 12-hour time period). All
areas have the potential for seeing severe weather. Please see the WSI
Special Weather Statement and NWS images in the Details section.
Areas now forecasted to be most at risk appear to be EC and SE EAI, all
of EMI, ETI (north of RT 190), and northern portion of ELL and the area
of EGSLA and ELL (north of I-10 and I-12). As the front reaches the
system these areas are subject to adjustment.
There is another system due on Saturday night-Sunday, but we will
provide information on that system later. Please monitor the WSI
Forecast/Alerts and the NWS Watches/Warnings for your local area.
Be Safe,
Bill

WSI Special Weather Statement:
Date:

Issued at:

Forecaster:

Zones:

Severe Weather
Discussion:
****THREAT FOR WIDESPREAD SEVERE STORMS ACROSS MUCH OF ENTERGY STARTING
LATE TONIGHT THROUGH ALL OF THURSDAY.***
*
An area of low pressure will drop into the southern Plains and
strengthen. The storm will then track across northern AR during the day
Thursday with the associated cold front passing through the service
area, as well. The storm and front exit MS and southeast LA Thursday
evening.
*ARKANSAS:* A line of strong to severe storms will develop in eastern
OK/northeast TX late tonight and move into western AR around sunrise
Thursday. The line of storms will likely become more intense as it
passes across the state during the morning and afternoon. The storms
should leave eastern AR by late afternoon. The southern half of the
state has a better chance of getting more severe storms than the
northern half. Severe amounts of lightning, large hail, and wind gusts
over 50 mph will be likely. Isolated tornados will also be possible,
especially in southern and eastern AR.
*MISSISSIPPI:* The line of severe thunderstorms is expected to enter
Mississippi by early afternoon and exit the service area by early
evening. There is a very good chance for severe lightning, large hail
and wind gusts over 60 mph. The chance for tornados now appears better
over MS than previously thought.
*LOUISIANA:* The line of strong to severe storms should enter northwest
LA shortly after sunrise and make its way across the entire state, not
exiting southeast LA until early-mid evening. The networks in Central as
well as the Egsi East and Eli South regions of Southern have the highest
chance of experiencing severe lightning, large hail, and wind gusts over
60 mph, along with isolated tornados. The remainder of Southern and all
of Metro could get storms with moderate to severe lightning, wind gusts
over 50 mph, and hail, with a slight chance of tornados.
*TEXAS:* The best chance for strong to severe storms will be in the
eastern half of Huntsville, Woodville, Silsbee, and Orange starting just
before sunrise in Huntsville. The threat should end by late morning as
the storms exit into LA. Those networks could get storms with moderate
to severe lightning, wind gusts over 50 mph, as well as some hail. The
threat for any tornados is much lower than AR/LA/MS.
The rest of the networks still have a chance of getting some strong
storms, as well, during the morning hours.
