Through this afternoon, there could be an isolated severe storm or two in
the eastern third of Arkansas. If a severe storm does develop, large hail
and damaging winds will be the main severe weather threats. Chances of
severe weather will be greater in areas off to the east of Arkansas.

A significant severe weather threat will occur in Arkansas on Saturday.
If everything comes together as it looks now, this could rise to the level
of being a "severe weather outbreak". All parts of the state will have a
threat of severe weather, but the best chances appear to be over the
southern two-thirds of the state. The atmosphere will be about as
unstable as it has been anytime so far this spring. Thus, I expect quite a
few severe thunderstorm warnings to be issued for damaging winds and large
hail. I think there will also be an enhanced chance for tornadoes.

The severe weather threat will be during the afternoon and evening, with
the activity exiting eastern Arkansas within a couple of hours after
midnight Saturday night.

We are expecting an e-mail outage this afternoon, so the next message will
be issued around 9:30 AM Saturday.
