An influx of Gulf of Mexico moisture will likely lead to rain over most
of Arkansas this week, with heavy rain in some areas.

From later tonight into Thursday, the greatest chances of heavy rain
will be in the western part of the state. Then, from Thursday into
Saturday, the greatest threat of heavy rain will probably be across
northern Arkansas.

By the end of the week, I think it is pretty likely that the western
half of Arkansas will have received 1 to 3 inches of rain, and there
could very well be some spots that have picked up 5 or 6 inches. Totals
in the eastern part of the state are most likely to range from 3/4 inch
to 1 1/2 inches.

Each day this week, from early afternoon through early evening, isolated
severe thunderstorms could occur, with damaging winds being the greatest
threat from these storms.

I will issue the next message around 3:30 PM Tuesday.
