On the conference call this morning:
Texas is beginning to see requests come in from the SE region. They will work with in-state resources first, but they will be looking for relief not too far down the road.
Roads are still blocked. They recorded a high in Jasper TX of 107 yesterday! The humidity is just short of pure water. Conditions are no fun at all. The SM asked that no ham that has a medical condition that would be made worse by the conditions attempt this trip until the weather abates.
It was on some TV news network yesterday that people are being allowed into the Beaumont/Port Arthur area. According to the SM, that is not true. People get to the roadblock and then don't have enough gas to get back to the shelter. Sad.
In MS, there are about 50 operators doing Red Cross, Salvation Army, RACES, Baptist Men's, etc. duties. The largest need exists in SE MS, but I understand there are others as well. I will be working with WD5HXB to get him on his way, does anyone want else want to go?
