MONDAY MORNING: MORE MAYHEM MAY, AHEM, ERUPT.
1.) Rita's reign ends with Rita's rains and severe weather threat from the
Carolinas to New England today.
2.) Cool that makes lovers of fall drool shoots southward down the Plains
and to the East Coast with a frost threat into the central Plains, and even
the interior Northeast.
3.) MONSTER RIDGE WITH POTENTIAL NEAR-RECORD WARMTH DEVELOPS ALONG THE EAST
COAST BY THE WEEKEND INTO NEXT WEEK. A surge of warmth that would do August
proud engulfs much of the East over the weekend and early next week.
4.) Tropical troubles:
a.) Western Caribbean development later in the week with a move to the Gulf
over the weekend and next week.
b.) Atlantic wave may threaten the East Coast under a big high in shortcut
fashion next week. Pattern pulse favors plenty of large-scale convection in
the Tropics.
c.) Pacific development could recurve into western trof.
5.) IN THE WEST, the mean trof is along the West Coast over the next 6-10
days.
6.) Short waves lifting northward mean the pattern in the Plains can be
wetter around the eastern ridge.
7.) There is plenty of chilly air building northwestward into Canada. Once
wavelengths shorten, the trof may buckle in where we see the strong one
coming through this week, and staying. This would turn the northern Plains
and Lakes colder. It's not evident yet, though changes are starting in other
areas. I SUSPECT IT WILL TAKE A TROF THAT GOES AND GETS A HURRICANE, NOT THE
HURRICANE COMING TO THE WESTERLIES AS ALL OF THEM HAVE, to signal this.
