George Goodwin, 83, a resident of White Hall, died Monday, September 27,
2004 at his home in White Hall. 
Born March 7, 1921, in Coblenz Lutzel, Germany, he was a son of Frank Taylor
and Katherina Stanelle Goodwin. 
Mr. Goodwin was reared and received his early education in Pine Bluff and
White Hall. He was a 1940 graduate of Pine Bluff High School. He was a
United States Army Veteran of World War II. Mr. Goodwin was an electrical
engineering technician for the Pine Bluff Arsenal for thirty-six years,
retiring in 1978. He married Barbara Appleberry in Stuttgart, Arkansas on
August 29, 1969. 
Mr. Goodwin was a member of the White Hall United Methodist Church. He was a
member of the Pine Bluff Lodge # 69 of the Free and Accepted Masons, a York
Rite and Scottish Rite Mason, a Shriner, and a member of the Southeast
Arkansas Regional Planning Commission. He served as an alderman for the city
of White Hall for twenty years. He also served on the Fire and Police
Committees. He was an avid amateur radio operator and a member of the
Amateur Radio Relay League. 
Mr. Goodwin was preceded in death by his parents. 
Survivors include his wife of thirty-five years, Barbara Appleberry Goodwin
of White Hall; two sons, Jack Rodney Goodwin of Houston, Texas and Robert
Francis Goodwin of LaPorte, Texas; two daughters, Georgia Kay Stone of
Blanchard, Oklahoma and Dorothy Pollett of White Hall; eight grandchildren
and six great-grandchildren. 
The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, September 30, 2004, in the
Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors with Reverends David Baker,
David Crooks and Rob Walker officiating. Burial will follow in the White
Hall United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive guests from
5:00-7:00 PM Wednesday, September 29, 2004, at Ralph Robinson & Son.
