All -

The information below came from Bob Ideker. It seems that there may some
real interest in pulling this off. Let me know your thoughts at the club
meeting. For Amateur radio it may be a good thing. Enough said.

A suggestion was made at the Russellville Hamfest that perhaps our ARRL
Arkansas Section might look into getting special permissions to hold a
Special Event Station in Little Rock at the time of the Clinton Library
opening - scheduled for November 18th (but will have a week long
celebration).

As this is preliminary, I have made contact with a couple of folks (but
still awaiting call backs) to discuss the possibilities of setting up a HF
station in or near the library to be maintained by hams (in shifts) to work
the radio(s) during that week.

It would be great exposure and publicity to our section, while giving hams
across the U.S. and beyond to work a unique station for a nice QSO
certificate to commemorate the occasion.

Of course, we'd be working with the ARRL Staff to help get a special event
call, to assist in QST publicity, and local radio and television coverage
too.

Its a 'big' project in itself IF we get the go-ahead.

My question today is, do you think members of your club might be interest in
helping? We'd need firm commitments later but, for now, the ball is
bouncing in hopes of stirring some discussion and interest.

I'd be interested in your comments after you discuss the b-r-o-a-d
possibilities with your members at your next club meeting.
