All -

I got an email last night when I got home from New Orleans from N5VGJ that
indicated that the 70 machine was down and went down around noon, 1 Dec
2004. John tried to contact Stan but he didn't have any luck.

This morning, I took a spare radio to work with me and went over to the 70
site to look over the situation. I found the transmit radio off line (no
power). I put on line the spare radio that I had brought with me (the one
we thought we were having problems with when we replaced the antenna but I
can get to work just fine at home). Well, the transmit was bad.

I went back and decided to swap the two radios that were in service and see
if that made any difference. Bad idea. After swapping the radios, I got no
transmit.

After some conversations with K5ECJ for both input and a sanity check, we
decided to try another pair of radios. I went home and got two more radios.
The first step was to install on of these radios as the receiver. This
brought the repeater back up but the transmit audio was noisy. After
hearing this, I opted to put the other spare in service. When I did this,
bingo! Seven-o came back to life with good clean transmit audio.

Bottom line, we have two new spare radios on-line. Three other radios that
need to be evaluated. One seems to have bad transmit (but good receive),
one that won't power up, and a third that has bad receive and poor transmit.

70 was returned to service on 4 December 2004 around 1330.
