ARRL Sponsorship of ARES EC course. Handling of long range traffic quickly
and accurately. A committee was appointed by Hanie. This need will
increase with the ARRL and DHS partnership.

WinLink 2000 radio digital email system. Handling of email can be handled
automatically. WL2K is worldwide and spreading by word of mouth. W5RXU is
being dragged into digital communications fighting and screaming.

Look for articles in August and Sept 2004 QST on WL2K. WL2K is the future.

WL2K needs to be proven on a local event first before rolling out to state,
region, country. WL2K brings amateur radio up to modern day technology or
at least improves the perception of amateur radio in the eyes of the served
agencies.

We need to address to what served agencies think they need.

ARRL believes a management structure is needed to make sure it get rolled
out to field services.

W5RZ comments -

WL2K has been in service for a number of years. Has Microsoft outlook
interface which should be a plus from the eyes of the served agencies.
Thinks we need to be out on the front of this.

W5ARS comments -

Mike, KB5WBH, has set winlink system at his house. Not many setups in AR
yet.

W5RXU comments -

ARRL BOD needs to encourage the merging of NTS and ARES. We need to get on
board ... and learn as we go. The guru will guide us.

18 Sept - Jacksonville - Hamfest

Closed net at 1930.

Glenn
