All -
As Jack has indicated, the Technical Group will meet down at the OEM to take an inventory of the equipment we have and identify and label the coax runs and to begin the process of determining what we have versus what we need to acquire/replace.
After we have done this, we will need to match this inventory up with the services that RACES will be expected to provide. Initially this could be a subset of the services we have provided in the past (the technical committee will await the guidance from the planning committee).
If your schedule allows, please plan on staying around to help put the office equipment back into the RACES office and help arrange the equipment.
As I see it (and this is preliminary and subject to change), we need to provide the following:
1) HF Communications to Conway (At minimum 80M. Both 80M and 40M would be better). Omni coverage would be ideal (noise and other issues will have to be evaluated) but dipoles have and could be used.
2) At least 1 VHF radio to provided voice communications to cover the county (including hospital)
3) At least 1 UHF radio to provide voice communications to cover the county (including hospital)
4) ATV - A very visible (no pun intended) function that we have provided in the past but we need to assess the antenna and coax and frequency. Dale Holland's input will be very valuable in this effort.
5) 800 MHz radio to allow county frequency monitoring
Items that may not receive immediate attention:
1) stationary 2M packet
2) stationary 6M packet
3) mobile 2M packet
