All -
Thanks to some extra-ordinary efforts by Clint Yates, we finally got in to the 440 repeater location. It turns out that the repeater just needed to be reset (power off/power on). We got it back on the air about 1730 last night. Echolink is up and functioning as well.
Code practice is still on for tonight. Scheduled for 1930. It may be delayed to as late as 2000 due to ball practice and the like. I'm planning on reviewing last week (e,I,s,h,and 5) and adding t, m, o, 0(zero). With these letters we can actually begin some words. The session should last about 30 minutes. Please check in as I need to get an idea of who all is participating.
I want to thank everyone who participated in the Railroad-a-rama last weekend. We had an very nice location - inside of a caboose. I think we made about 60 contacts. The QSL card will be nice for those who send us an SASE. Thanks to WB5UGJ, Bernard, for taking care of the HF setup - it worked extremely well. It was easy to set up and just as easy to take down. In my opinion, it was one of the best Railroad-a-ramas that we've had. Many people walking through and picking up Amateur Radio literature.
I actually had the good fortune of talking to w8cnl (ray) who just happened to mention that he is an ex-ADXA member. That was fun for me as I'm the Secretary/Treasurer of the ADXA. Well, I don't remember Ray but he knew Roderick, Ollie, and Wayne Beck. He is the QSL manager for 9K2ZZ. We must have chatted for 30 minutes or so and I had a blast. Not bad for a TS-50 and an Ironhorse mobile antenna on 20M.
Clint and Stan, Echolink is something that you and the boys need to look at - www.echolink.org). You can often talk to Europeans via our 440 repeater or your own Echolink session. It is basically voice over IP and we have it connected to our 440 machine.
Thanks,
Glenn
