Hurricane Lili - Advisory 47
Issued: 09:00 AM Thursday October 03, 2002

At 9am CDT, Lili will be moving ashore just west of Vermilion Bay about 40 miles SSW of of Lafayette, LA. Lili continues to weaken rapidly as it reaches the coast. Maximum winds have
dropped to 90-95 mph, and these winds are no longer uniform around the center but in small areas rotating around the center. Lili is forecast to continue to weaken very rapidly today as
it moves generally northward past Alexandria and into northern Louisiana.

Heaviest squalls have already moved through the greater New Orleans area. Conditions are improving there now. To the west of the center, the Lake Charles area is reporting northerly
winds of 30-40 mph in squalls with higher gusts. Conditions should be improving there in 3-4 hours. The worst weather is associated with the 80 mile-wide core of Lili which will pass
just west of Lafayette later this morning. Although Lili is now only a shadow of her former self, it could produce sustained winds of 80-95 mph across the mid Louisiana coast from
Vermilion Bay north through Lafayette over the next few hours. Conditions will be improving on the middle coast by noon.

Since the storm has now moved inland, this will be the final track forecast issued. Final site forecast for the areas from Beaumont, TX to New Orleans, LA have just been disseminated in
the past 30 minuets.
