So, this one is making the rounds again...

http://www.snopes.com/computer/virus/postcard.asp

Although the "Postcard" virus is real, it isn't a
BIG VIRUS COMING (it has been here in various forms
for a long time). It will not burn the whole hard
disc of your computer. CNN did not classify it as
the "worst virus" ever.

If you are running an anti-virus program (and why
wouldn't you?), it will find it and prevent it from
harming your computer.

For those who haven't noticed, a lot of these scams
are going around claiming to have been "checked with
Snopes." Often, they were checked with Snopes and
found to be FALSE. It is smart to check it out for
yourself!

In any case, it is easy to tell a real e-postcard
from a phony. If the e-mail says it is from
"a friend" or "a family member" then it's crap;
get rid of it. A legitimate one will tell you
exactly who it is from.

It is always better to err on the side of being safe,
but it's very easy to check these things out.
That's what we all should do, rather than simply
passing these things on.

Ps. I am only the PARK "Mailman", not the editor or "Net Master". It is up to msg originators to verify or as in this case advise if doubtful. Anyway no harm done and anyone can check on Snopes and see that my "Happy New Year" is for real and maybe the "Best" ever. 73 John W3DHO .
