I am sending this email to both the PARK and EPARA reflectors. In the
near future there will be a Monroe County ARES/RACES reflector for this
kind of information.

Attention all amateur radio operators in the Eastern PA Section

Due to the One-Two punch that Hurricanes Katrina and Rita have leveled
on the Gulf Coast, and that there is already a significant number of
volunteers and personnel involved in the post Katrina disaster, there is
a possibility requests may come in for Amateur Radio Operators to assist
in both the Louisiana and TX areas effected by these storms.

At this time, as report by Nick Meacher, N3WWE - Asst SEC for ARESMAT
and Adams Co EC, the earliest that amateurs would be expected to travel
to these affected areas is Sunday.

In an attempt to get a jump on any request that may come into the EPA
Section for assistance, we would like to assemble a list of those
operators who would be willing to travel and provide assistance.

ANYONE who is interested must go to the EPA SECTION ARESMAT page and
register.
http://www.svemcomm.org/epaares/aresmat.htm

We are requiring this so that we have all the information necessary to
properly organize and track any amateurs for a response to a request.

In addition any amateur must be able to sustain deployment for up to two
weeks, and initially provide EVERYTHING they might need for a minimum of
72 hours within the deployment area. This means food, water, batteries,
medication etc.

We specifically need amateurs who have complete at least Level 1 of the
ARRL ECC Courses, IS-700 NIMS and those with Winlink capability.

We also want to plan out as far as we can. In the Additional
information section of the registration for, please indicate when you
would be able to depart. Beginning with this Sunday Sept 25th, and then
each following Sunday over the next 4 weeks. Which would be Oct 2nd,
9th and 16th.

Also, for those that my have registered through the internet site, if
you receive and requests to deploy, contact Nick at n3wwe at adelphia.net
or (717) 965-5187 or myself at the contact info below.

Lastly, PLEASE, DO NOT self deploy. DO NOT make yourself part of the
problem.

73's and thanks in advance
