Per Section 10 in the rules located at https://www.paqso.org/pa-qso-party-rules.html, interested parties must apply to be considered for this year's Party. For an application to be considered, the following must be included in the submission: 1) Submit an Operational Plan. Operational Plans should document the general nature of the operation, location of operation, expected number of operators, planned timeframe for operation, modes, bands, power levels, operation leadership, official control operator, and station callsign. Extra information such as QSL card policy, social media plans, logging capabilities, and planned staging and training for station operators are helpful. The Operational Plan should indicate expected operator experience and skillsets. This is not to imply that bonus station operation should be limited to only highly experienced operators. On the contrary, we encourage bonus stations to utilize all operators available to them, of various skillsets, however we expect bonus stations will have experienced leadership and mentors available during bonus station operation to ensure the most enjoyment for PA QSO Party participants and bonus station operators. 2) State that you and your operation will comply with all applicable PA QSO Party and FCC rules, and acknowledge the rules within Section 10 which specifically apply to bonus stations. 3) If representing an established organization, please provide proof of authority to represent the organization in filing the application, and note number of members. If you are not representing an established organization, please indicate the confirmed and tentative bonus station operation team members. 4) Note any special circumstances or compelling reasons for awarding the bonus station operation to your group (i.e. "club is celebrating 100th anniversary", "honoring long time PA QSO Party participant Bob", etc.). 5) Provide complete contact information, including phone number, email address, and postal address. It is recommended that applicants provide secondary representative information in the event the committee needs more information and the primary representative is unavailable at the time. Submissions must be emailed to info at paqso.org by July 14th, 2019 23:59 Eastern. Received submissions will be acknowledged by a human via email. Finalists and those who did not make the finalist stage will be notified no later than August 1st. A final selection will be made no later than August 16th. It's our goal to conduct this process in the most fair and transparent manner possible. Unfortunately we can select only one applicant as the bonus station and there will undoubtedly be several very well qualified and deserving applicants. Please do not be upset if your submission is not selected. The Committee cannot comment on the process or decisions made in previous years regarding the selection of bonus stations. All decisions by the Committee are final. We look forward to your submission. Let's have some fun. 73 Goody K3NG From TwelveVDC at aol.com Fri Jun 21 19:11:58 2019 From: TwelveVDC at aol.com (TwelveVDC at aol.com) Date: Fri, 21 Jun 2019 19:11:58 -0400 Subject: [PaQSO] TRIBUTE TO RAY, W3TDF Message-ID: <43A777E4-03ED-427F-A0C0-F4B458F10A51@aol.com> OUR TRIBUTE TO RAY, W3TDF Ray Bilger was the Quarter Century Wireless Association?s Chapter 17 President for ten years and was an amazing and unique friend, outstanding Amateur Radio Operator and Contester Extraordinaire. Ray was an encyclopedia of Ham Radio information, facts and accomplishments. Ray?s passing in January 2016 had been a loss to not only the Amateur fraternity but especially to QCWA Chapter 17, his good-natured competitors in the PAQSO Party, as well as his local friends at the Delaware-Lehigh Amateur Radio Club in EPA. With the help of many we have been able to continue to increase Membership in Allentown / Bethlehem / Easton?s Chapter 17 and maintain very healthy participation in our Monday Nite Net along with Members of our sister Chapter, 224 in Wyoming Valley at 8:30pm ET on 3.962 +/- QRM. More than two years ago, Chapter 17 Members voted affirmatively to change our Station Callsign from W3GS to W3TDF to honor Ray, but we had to wait for FCC Regulations regarding reassignment of vacated Amateur Callsigns because of Cancellation and Grace Period provisions. The opportunity to secure Ray?s callsign as a legacy for Chapter 17 finally arrived, and we proceeded in earnest to fulfill the wishes of our Members. The FCC just granted our application on June 18, 2019. Now our On-Air presence will be easily recognized with the familiar call of W3TDF, only now that of QCWA Chapter 17 as a lasting and fitting Memorial to Ray who meant much to so many. We hope you share our enthusiasm as we officially return W3TDF to the Amateur bands, beginning with Field Day this weekend. Joel WB3IWC President, Chapter 17 Quarter Century Wireless Association, Inc. *QCWA Chapter 17 meets every 3rd Saturday at 8:30AM ET, for Business and Breakfast at the Borderline Restaurant, 2100 W. Union Blvd., Lehigh Shopping Center, Bethlehem, PA **If you were First Licensed in 1994 or earlier, and hold a current ticket today, you qualify for Membership in QCWA. Our Members are everywhere.
