Thank you to Jim K8MR and John AD8J for your insights in response to my questions 10/6. They were very helpful.
Thanks to Tom N2CU for your example in response to my questions about about rover versus mobile. I would like to discuss this more with the group, but this isn't the right time for that, and no one wants to hear a rookie discuss rules. However, I can't help but mention that in this case, the rules will cause me to leave home my mobile antenna, which means fewer possible contacts from rare counties, which isn't good for anyone.
I am a little worried about my 27ft elevated vertical. In the NJ contest (portable in Cape May), it seemed to be much better at making contacts 1000+ miles out than in hearing local NJ stations. Maybe I'll try to lean it over some to see if I can get a steeper takeoff to hear PA stations better -- anyone ever hear of a "slanted vertical"? :-)
[Hopefully this "plain text" email will be formatted better than my last one ... Yahoo "rich text" doesn't work well with email reflectors.]
So here's my roving intentions ... I don't have enough experience to call them plans. :-)
Saturday rove E to W along Route 6 starting at Susquehana or Wyoming to McKean, then heading S or SW (depending on the hour), ending in Clearfield. Sunday start in Centre, W to E along route 80, then SE along 322, then E along PA Tpke.
