To be perfectly honest Pete, I doubt that we will be exempted from the rate increase.
A long time ago, Amateur Radio plates were handled by PennDOT differently than the Vanity plates. But during one of the previous administrations, in the process of streamlining & consolidating things, Amateur Radio plates WERE lumped in with the Vanity Plate programs. (IIRC, this was about the time the cost for an AR plate went from around $2 to the current $20)
Nor would I count on our "historic contribution to Public Safety and Welfare." These days, that goes under the heading of "but what have you done for me LATELY?"

Does anyone know if new Pennsylvania Amateur Radio Tag Applications will be exempt from the July 1 increase to $76 from $20?
I can find nothing on this, but our critical roles in Public Service should have addressed this with a friendly legislator.
These tags identify our capability in an emergency, exactly like "MD" plates do. They are more than just "vanity tags," and should've been targeted for exemption for our historic contribution to Public Safety and Welfare.
Anyone with friends in the right places?
