There is no problem. York County has always been YOR, except for our county hunter friends, for whom it is YORK.
Now I need to say something.
It was a typo. That is all. if anyone has a problem with my selection of the York club as Bonus station, give me a call at 814-238-7690, and I will discuss it with you. In person. Because it is and was my decision. The buck stops with me. I'll look forward to the chat.
We had two really excellent choices for the Special event station this year. That was the W3ZGD group in York. The QCWA chapter 17 was the other candidate.
It was an embarrassment of riches. I was lucky. Both were celebrating anniversaries in 2013, both had strong cases to be made for being the bonus station. I even attempted to have two separate bonus stations, different call signs and different counties, but it just wasn't working out.
I did have to make a decision. After going back and forth for over a month, first one then the other seemed like the best choice, I realized that it was a dead heat in all respects but one.
The Hilltop Transmitting Association had applied to be the bonus station on the 16th of January, 2013 - and Chapter 17 had applied on the 1st of February, 2013.
So I used the only differentiating criteria I had. I offered the 2013 bonus station to Hilltop, and offered the 2014 bonus station to Chapter 17. Had it been the other way around, Chapter 17 would be the Special event station.
And yes, I understand there were going to be some hard feelings, because someone has to lose out. We had one group actually boycott us some years ago because they weren't chosen as Bonus station. Sheesh, indeed!
I sincerely apologize if I have upset anyone. I don't like to, but I know that I do. Every year. Just be glad you don't have to upset people every year.
But then again, that's why they pay me the big bucks.
- most very respectfully, Mike N3LI -
