Thanks to everyone for the replies to my posting.

john, K3CT nailed it. The problem was a phantom port. I had never heard
this term before, but he pointed out that the fix is in the N1MM on-line
manual. I should have looked there, but it was a long week at work, and I
got a bit lazy.

I'm ashamed to say It was easier to post it to the list, than to read the
manual.

The rig has been checked out, disassembled and is sitting by the back door
in anticipation  of tomorrow. I'm looking forward to working all of you
this weekend.
