Hi All,
As mentioned earlier, my usual mobile effort as W3USA will not happen this
year. I'll be in NJ earlier in the week, and heading home on I-80 through
PA on Sunday, from east to west. I'm hoping to leave NJ early enough to
spend a good part of the day stopping to operate as a rover from some of the
less common counties.
I'm presently figuring on COL, MTR, NUM, UNI, and CLI. There are rest areas
on I-80 in all of those but NUM. Does anybody know a suitable place close
to I-80 in NUM? I just need a place to park with a 30 foot tree close by,
where people won't be bothered by my presence for an hour or so.
I'm figuring on a hour or so at each stop. This could let me get as far
west as CLE and CRN, two that are often on the rare list. Also LYC is only
about a mile off the road from UNI, so I might also stop there if I'm well on
time.
I'll be checking the reflector before departing early Sunday for reports on
what might be needed, and will gladly receive suggestions over the air on
Sunday.
I haven't decided at this point whether I'll be using W3USA or K8MR in the
contest, though I make a few qsos from NJ on Saturday as K8MR.
