[PaQSO] Scoring question

Hi Mike,

So, your preference is the first scenario you have laid out?

A few minutes ago, I emailed my Cabrillo log. I also included an Excel
spreadsheet breaking out the counties. By adding up the total of the
individual counties, including the 500 points per county and my one contact
with W3SC, I come up with a score of about 20,446. My summary sheet will
show a total of 58,208.

I am about to submit my soapbox here. :)

But that isn't how some have been trying to do it. Let me explain:

Mobile operator is in County 1. He works 10 contacts in ten other Counties.
He submits a summary sheet and calculates his score as 10 times 10 = 100
Then he adds the 500 point bonus.

The summary sheet from county 1 will show a score of 600 points.

Then he moves to county 2. He works 20 contacts with 10 different counties
He logs his score as 20 times 5 = 200, plus a 500 point bonus. It's like
starting over.

The summary sheet from County 2 will show a score of 700 points.

So now he has a total score he needs to present. So on that total score he
has 30 contacts. But some of the counties he worked in County 1 were also
worked in County 2. Let's say that he worked 5 of the same county in county
1 as in county 2. Now the total number of different counties he worked in
the party was 15. That is 15 mults total.

So when doing the aggregate summary, we have:

30 total contacts
15 total counties
2 x 500 point bonus

for a total score of 1450 points

but his individual County summary sheets would appear to have him with a
total score of 1300 points when added together. (600 points for County 1,
and 700 points for County 2)

Or..

He might send in a summary sheet that only included the new counties that he
got as multipliers for that county. This would further move his score away
from the aggregate summary. I've received them all three ways.

So that's how the opposing ideas of scoring mobiles works. One way, the
individual county scores will not add up to the total score of the party,
and the other way it will.
