For several years I have enjoyed roving during the QSO Party. It gives me pleasure to not only work the same station many times, but also hearing, "Thanks for the new County".
Most of my fifty five years of hamming has been done on bands above 50 mhz. We now operate at my home QTH all the way to 10 ghz.
I have an antenna question. I've been using a 90 foot dipole with coils for 40 and 80 meters. Very easy to install between a few trees.
I've been thinking about getting something for 20 and 15 meters.
I have a push up mast tower that can hold a small antenna.
Now the question
Has anyone used the DE from an old tribander, and would it be worth getting up perhaps 25 feet.
Would it be better than using a wire dipole ?
Most of my rover operations is during the day, and 80% of my contacts are now on 40 meters. Surely I would like to see more daytime activity on 80 meters.
Any thoughts would be appreciated
Merry Christmas to All
