Hello all DE WU3U,

Just wondering and would like to hear from operators who have done rover operations in the PAQP.

Looking back at results from other years, I note that some of the rover stations have operated from as many as 7 and even more counties.

When you guys do this, that is operate as a rover station, do you get permission to operate from the various spots you end up in or do you just look for places to settle down and hope no one chases you away?

Do you find a spot on the road with a wide shoulder and just throw up an antenna?

When operating in PAQP as a mobile station, this is not too problematic, that is, pulling into a school, church, or whatever parking lot and just operating - since you're not setting up any antennas detached from the vehicle - so if someone tells you to scram, you just start the engine and get on your way.

But how do the rovers do it?

Do you guys put up full-sized antennas and hope for the best or do you get permission from as many as 7 or more places?

The latter seems like a year's worth of work...ha.

Any input appreciated.
