I enjoy reading all the reports and comments about this years Party. Here is our report from Susquehanna county.
Carol and I almost didn't make the trip to Susquehanna County this year. But the weather forecast convinced us we had to go. We called the campground. Good news, they were still open. Bad news, because of the wet weather, we couldn't get to our usual site. So anticipating the unknown, I threw in a couple of different wire antenna's and a Butternut vertical, and off we went!
Our site was not too bad, so the only antenna we put up was the 80 meter doublet fed with 450 ohm feed line. It worked as expected on 80, real nice on 40 and we even made some contacts on 20 CW and 10 SSB.
With the excellent weather, it was especially nice to have two operators. Carol would operate phone, I'd take the dog for a walk. After a spell, I'd operate CW and Carol would take her book outside and enjoy the sunshine.
No clean sweep of the counties for us. We missed Adams. But with over 700 QSO's, 400 plus on SSB and the balance CW, we had our best year yet from SUS. (And I have not heard anyone complain of missing the sweep because of Susquehanna County!)
A big thank you to NARC for sponsoring this excellent party!
