Great description of the usual ham radio discussion - but my wife Tippi WA3JPP (ex W2BWH and W1WXR) and I never had this discussion.
When we met (almost 60 years ago) I told her that girls couldn't pass the FCC tests.
Whoops - next thing I knew she had a Novice and then General class license W1WXR.
Her father bought her a much better station than I had.
Very active. Never interfered with any of my ham radio activities, antennas, etc. nor I with hers.
Sometimes she logged for me in the days of paper contest logs.

Tippi became a silent key in October after 53 married years and 58 as a licensed ham.

Moral of the story - get 'em early, get 'em licensed, make sure they are active.
