Hello Bill,

Thanks for the information - yes I know about Kay Cragie moving to VA.

And Ok on the other changes.

One thing I am looking for is a decent spot to operate from as a rover in CHE.

I know of a few that are near the Blue Route and they are decent spots.

The park you mention sounds interesting - if you and your friends don't operate from there, maybe I can give it a shot.

What is the name of the park?

Where is it?

Is it a good radio location, i.e., in the clear and high elevation?

I promise I won't go there if you and your friends decide to!

Hi Tim;

Maybe I can shed some light on the CHE situation. I live in Elverson, PA, which is located in the extreme northwestern corner of CHE. Prior to 2007, I lived in DCO and was very active in the PA QSO Party for several years from there (took first place a few times) before moving to CHE. When I moved to CHE, I downsized (that happens sometimes when you are approaching retirement years) and I now live in an antenna restricted development so the only operating I do are at other hams stations

First of all, prior to 2007, Kay Craigie, current President of ARRL, lived in CHE. She was always active in the PA QSO Party. However, she moved to Blacksburg, VA.

Two of my neighbors (KD3OK and KE3MN) also used to participate in the PA QSO Party almost every year from a local park here in CHE usually under the call KD3OK and only on SSB I personally love CW. Last year they did not operate. I am talking to both of them and trying to persuade them and one other new ham to operate from the same local park in CHE this year.

So that's the current situation from CHE.

You mentioned PHI. When I lived and operated from DCO, I had a rough time working PHI which was right next door to DCO. Sometime during the party, I usually ran across WA3AAN from PHI on 40 CW but it sometimes was late Sunday. So that county can be a tough one also.

IF you rove in CHE let me know where you plan on going and if we operate from Elverson we'll look for you. It can be very disheartening to not even work your own county.

Bill - K3EGE

Hello all,

I may be doing a rover operation for PAQP 2011 - basically just covering the counties in the greater Philadelphia area - not sure yet, depends on a few things working out as they should.

Anyhow...

One thing I notice is that CHE was VERY rare last year - rarer than SNY!

Got this from KD8MQ's fine PAQP info website.

An average county's contribution to the overall points awarded in PAQP is 1.44%...CHE only awarded something like .44%

I've been inactive as far as PAQP goes in recent years...so what gives with CHE?

Given that it is a high population county that has some open areas (good for antennas and such), you'd think it would be an easy country to work.

It used to be a "dirt common" mult but for the last few years, it's been fairly rare - in fact for the past five years or so it has ranged from being a moderately to an outright rare mult,

Also, how has it been to work PHI in recent years?

Sometimes PHI is hard to get too.

Just my musings...73!
