Sounds like the mobiles had a great time! But, is the fun over until next year, or at least until the next state qso party within driving range?
No! Remember that County Hunters are looking for those counties all the time, especially with mobile stations. County Hunter Nets are found on a number of bands and modes, with calling frequencies on most of the others. Unlike the slow WAS nets you may have heard, the county hunting nets run very differently. Mobile stations are given the opportunity to "run" the county they are in.
A mobile sometimes may have to wait for his turn on a list of mobiles, or sometimes can have the opportunity to run right away if no one else is ready. The mobile then "runs" his county, taking calls from those who need a contact with that county for one of the myriad county hunter awards. It is like a little contest with the mobile running being the cemter of attention for a few minutes. Then he can go again when he is a new county.
Information on the county hunter nets and how they operate can be found at www.marac.org and www.countyhunter.com
Be sure to watch the County Hunting Introductory video by Leo, WY7LL found on countyhunting.com.
Hope you had fun in the PA Party, and hope to hear all you mobiles again soon on the County Hunter's Nets.
