Boy, I really hate to get involved in these things, but I have to  
chime in this time.
With all due respect Andy, I must entirely disagree with you.
As a 6m aficianado for 25 years with a good deal of expertise, the  
50.125 National Calling frequency should absolutely be avoided. There  
is no such thing as "this time of year" when talking about the Magic  
Band. My 20 year+ beacon logbook reports and DX QSL Card collection  
will verify this.
Any contest activity should be conducted above 50.135, preserving both  
the DX Window and NCF for what they are intended.
Also, there is no restriction on CW anywhere on the entire band,  
although it is CW ONLY below 50.110, (and not 50.100.)
I would like to see the PAQSOP officially adjust the published 6m  
suggested activity frequency to consider the Bandplan Conventions  
adopted by the rest of the world and keep the fragile peace among the  
large VHF Community that live for those elusive openings on their  
precious weekends.
