[PaQSO] Log/Summary Sheet Submissions?

For every other State QSO Party in which I've participated, the actual 
claimed score was never used by the scoring team.  The cabrillo file was 
processed using some algorithm, or in a few cases, done manually, and 
the "real" score was calculated.

Am I too brash in asking why all the concern about how N1MM or other 
programmes calculate the claimed score?  Or, does the scoring team take 
the claimed score as face value without checking?

Just curious.
