Hi all;
great fun again.
In preparation for the long cold winter, I fired up the BA's again for the contest.
I stuck with the heathkit Dx-60b for xmit as It has a vfo which really
makes life easy, everything else is xtal and isnt really geared to contest ops.
The main rcvr is my venerable Hq-180 which is in use daily and never disappoints. puts out a few btu's to keep the shack toasty.
An upgrade to my tr switch from the giant copper knife switch to an alpha delta coax switch has made things easier, no more getting my tie stuck when switching from xmt to rcv hi.
Logging was again flawless using a combination of different colored pens and pencils when switching bands; however I intend to eliminate the pencil next year as valuable time was lost when having to resharpen them.
log checkers please excuse the coffee stains caused by occasional distractions.
a total of 69 qsos were a lot of fun, and great to run into oldtime friends here.
neatest fun was using a military rcvr for 1 contact, a type 139 chinese that covered 80m, used by Charles in 1969, no rf gain so signals could really hurt ur eardrums. That made my straight key happy as it is also chinese, a k4 I believe from the PLA army.
anyway tnx to all and especially to this years organizers.
