N3A is a special event call for the 4th anniversary of the founding of the
North American QRP CW Club which now has 2900+ members promoting the use of
CW and QRP on the ham bands. Anyone with an interest in CW and QRP is
welcome to join. Membership is free, and by no means are members restricted
to only using CW and QRP. Our membership includes many prominent contesters
(K4BAI and N4BP to name but two) who enjoy running QRP in contests now and
then in addition to their contesting with other modes and QRO power levels.
Sound like your cup of tea? Check http://www.usatek.net/~yoel/ or simply
search 'NAQCC' in your favorite search engine.
Also check the web page for info on how to get a handsome certificate and/or
QSL card for working our special event station.
Strictly calling CQ and no S&P at all, I (K3WWP) made 214 QSO's in 67
multipliers using 5 watts and a random wire antenna in my attic in roughly
10 hours of operating time. See my GenLog score summary below.
I wasn't going for score, but merely trying to hand out Armstrong county to
those who needed it (and garner a bit of publicity for our club). Of course
all my operation was done with CW since I don't own a mike for my rig (don’t
need one). Had I done some S&P, my score could have been a lot better, I'm
sure.
I hope I did help out some folks toward their sweeps and apologize to those
I couldn't work. I believe I worked virtually everyone whom I did hear
calling me. I know I did miss a couple whom I just couldn't pull through my
always strong local noise level.
Score CALCULATION:
QSOs Points Multipliers
80 CW 129 x 2.0 = 258 Counties: ________
Other CW 85 x 1.5 = 127.5 Sections: ________
RTY 0 x 2.0 = 0
PSK 0 x 2.0 = 0
SSB & FM 0 x 1.0 = 0 DX(1 only): 0
Total QSOs 214 Total Points = 385.5 X Total Mults: 67
Equals Total RAW Score 25828
