[PaQSO] Lies, darn lies, and statistics

Just a thought on QRP operation. In the late 70s, the
radio club at Quantico MCB did its Field Day
operations in class 1A battery. This is QRP operation
with battery power. We decided the best way to win the
class was with good antennas. While one op banged away
on 40 CW with a vertical, all the others erected a
full-sized, class A rhombic pointed at Los Angeles,
using existing trees at a well scouted site. We never
did win, but we sure had fun trying. And we had no
trouble holding a frequency.

QRP in a contest requires good antennas. Otherwise go
medium power. BTW, don't knock the QRO M/M efforts. If
you think its easy, you're surely welcome to try it.
W3ZI's operation last year was a feature article in
the National Contest Journal.

See you all next October.

73,
