[PaQSO] Rover vs. Mobile....

You have the distinction correct. The Rover usually operates in fewer
counties than the mobile. The rover is usually louder--and thus enjoys
a bit of an advantage over the mobile. The rover operation is more
practical for a single person than the mobile. That's why I started
"Rovering" a few years back. Now I have a sidekick who comes along to
drive, log setup, and make the whole thing a bit easier. IMHO it is not
safe to drive and contest operate at the same time.

In some parties--the Ohio for example--rovers get to make contacts between
locations. In the Pa, however, that is not permitted I am told. The
"Ohio" plan also allows rovers to use plug-in power, places no limit on
Tx power, and a few other perks to make a "Rover" a "Mobile on Steroids"
as K8MR would say.

Either way, it's a fun thing to do on a fall weekend in Pennsylvania.
