Below is a summary of my band totals on 40 through 10 for the last twenty
years. A few points to note:

1. It is my impression that many of the in state participants under utilize
20M SSB. Note that my 20M SSB QSO count has been commensurate with my 40M
SSB QSO count since 1995, when I changed my operating strategy to focus more
on the high bands.

2. I have never had any success on 15M - not sure why.

3. It is feast or famine on 10M.

4. A presence on the high bands is key to achieving high multiplier counts.

The is A LOT of activity on 20M and I think in state folks should place
greater emphasis on that band.

I agree it seems to me that high band activity over the past few years
has dropped. It would be wise to have these half hour segments for
each high band. This idea seemed to work last Wednesday night when
some of us form the local area gathered on six meters for a net. we
had a total of 16 stations join us some as far as Jim Throop. If you
like to join in as well tune your radio to 50.140 USB at 9 PM
Wednesday

The Murgas Club screwed up this year in not relaying enough info to
our operators prior to the contest. We always set certain times to
operate on two meters, ten meters, and fifteen meters. With lack of
communication between members we lost many contacts.
Next year we will be setting thirty minute segments for those
operations.
The contest would be better served if all stations in the state follow
our published times.
We have lost the importance of our quieter bands. I am sure from my
QTH in north east Pennsylvania, I could work many stations on ground
wave in the western part of the state on 10 or 15 meters.
The big scores in the contest is important, but the amount of stations
that participate successfully even with "ten contacts" is much more
important.
Stay warm this winter.
