I agree that KA3JWE has an excellent QSO program.
Have used it many times. The one thing I would like
to see, are software developers putting out software,
which runs on platforms other than Windows. Sure,
some programs now are ported into different operating
systems, but I know that it is possible to write
software in one version, which can run on any OS.
This is called cross-platform programming. The ARRL,
specifically WA1LOU, has put out columns about hams
using other OS configurations. It appears to be
gaining ground, especially Linux. Linux has come a
LONG way from its humble beginning. With Linux there
are good entry level versions, like Linspire and
Xandros. There are more intermediate ones, like
Ubuntu and Debian. Debian has a huge repository of
ham software, so that proves that there is life beyond
Windows.
The neat thing about ham radio is that many of us
tinker with computers also, adding a new dimension to
the hobby. It is important that we integrate the two,
as they are both similar. Computers now run radios,
so the future will likely have many neat happenings!
Cant fight technology, so you might as well embrace
it.
