Hi, and many thanks to the 100 plus a few insurance qso's (there is a
vintage cup for 100 pts?) on cw this yr.
Knowing that I had to work saturday, (and not knowing that the most
famous
town in Pike co. would declare a state of emergency: we had a bit of rain)
so
operated the EOC in Matamoras the rest of saturday. So since Pike would be
well represented this yr by the infamous K3MX, I opted to play vintage
radio(also warmed the shack up nicely). Thus the slight delay and probable
off freq a tad is explained. Rcvr was my venerable HQ-180, and xmtr was
heath DX-60B maxed out at 50 watts, and freq adjusted with the able
assistance of an HG-10 vfo. T/R switching was accomplished with a alpha
delta coaxial switch(select xmtr or rcvr to be switched to tuner). so a bit
of knob turning and rf gain control up down all in the proper order is
necessary.
It was just way too much fun, the only non-american gear was my
chinese
peoples liberation army straight key(if you are into straight keys you have
to get one of these beauties).
after the coffee mug was won, I went on 80 ssb for a bit to get k3ytl
bonus points on my TS-820.
Next Year? How abt I get out my rock collection and Johnson
Adventurer and match/exceed this years points?
If its fun, It is the Pa QSO party, simply the best.
Tnx to all es c u next yr.. de kw3u Jim in Matamoras.....dit dit
