[PaQSO] County Line Ops

Ed (WA3SES) and I can attest that there is little to gain for the CL
station in giving out the looooong exchanges involved with CL ops as he
and I operated from WES/SOM/FAY one year. The rates really did slow
down, and I can recall many of the operators at the other end of the QSO
stammering while they tried to figure out how to enter the multiple
counties into their contest software. It was a challenge to say the
least.

Now, having said all of that, I can say that Ed and I had a blast that
weekend, even after getting whacked in the head with the crescent wrench
we were using to throw the dipoles into the trees.

Blair et al:

I submit that the motive behind 90% or more of CL operations is to
"give", not to "receive".

The thrill is in giving out more than one county to the other station,
not to enhance the CL stations score. I agree there is little or no
benefit to the CL station........maybe if the CL station is on the
ARM/VEN/FAY/SOM/BED/TIO/JUN/ADA county line it would help a bit........

I can state for a fact the CL station rate is slowed.

Anyhow, that's my story..........and I'm sticking to it.
