Paul,

A few years ago, Don (W3LR) bought a mile of aluminum electric fence wire
to use as radials for a 40/80 vertical for Field Day.  We only used it
two years.
I still have it in my barn.  Not sure of the gauge, but you are welcome
to a
length of it.  I'm in rural Coopersburg (PA).  
It may not be exactly 16ga, but very close as I recall.
