Ditto. I passed my Extra ticket the old fashion way; I earned it by passing
the 20 wpm exam. I spent time on the air practicing and listening. I agree
removing the CW requirement dumbs down the accomplishment of so many. I say
instead of removing 5 wpm, add the 20 wpm back!

Subject: [PaQSO] Preserving CW
Statement: Absolutely the most sense I have heard on this subject, we
improve/save
the hobby by showing and teaching not by grousing.
Rebuttal: But grousing is so much easier than actually doing something.
The above REBUTTAL has provoked me to UTTER DISGUST !
Using this same "Philosophy", one could say:
1. "It's EASIER to crash the aircraft, than it is to learn how to fly it" !
2. "It's easier to allow the CHEATS and the LIARS to continue their CHEATING
and LYING in the Pa. QSO Party, than it is to make an effort to IDENTIFY
THEM, and EXPOSE THEM TO CENSURE by all who have been VICTIMIZED by the
Cheating and Lying" ! (That was the Philosophy Lesson for the 2001, 2002, &
2003 PaQP.)
3. "It's EASIER to DENIGRATE ALL who take Personal Pride in their prowess at
CW, than it is for ME to learn CW" !
CW is the ONE & ONLY aspect of the present Amateur Radio Examinations, where
the examinee CANNOT FAKE IT ! You either know it, or you don't ! If you
don't know it, you FAIL - - - -and, unfortunately in the minds of many - - -
FAILURE is not an option ! Consequently, "I don't want to be embarrassed by
FAILURE, so, LET'S ELIMINATE the possibility of MY FAILURE, - - -JUST FOR ME
!"
Now, this is MY 2 CENTS:
"Any person who has NEVER EXPERIENCED FAILURE, has NEVER LEARNED ANYTHING" !
"There are those who spend their lives CURSING THE DARKNESS, when it would
be EASIER to Light a Candle" !
